Qualitative Analysis: Ethical Component of Academic Research

A doctoral level research was developed based on the observations and emerging manifestations found among university teachers participating as key actors..

Technical - Analytical Approach

The qualitative paradigm and Van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological approach were assumed for this purpose, with a descriptive-interpretative character. The purpose of this study was to identify the ethical component emerging from the action or non-action of these professionals in two non-autonomous Venezuelan public universities..

Analysis Tools

My role in this project included the acquisition of data from primary sources, university teachers, the creation of appropriate instruments to capture the most relevant data, such as: participant observation, interviews, among others, to then develop the integration of these with various secondary data sources, such as institutional records and research background, in a single centralized database. After an exhaustive cleaning and normalization of the data, I used data analysis tools, with Excel and R Language, to understand the reality under analysis and the behavioral patterns of teachers, when compared with the study variables..

Result of the Study

As final considerations, aspects of the ethical component emerge, which were understood as a synapse subordinated to moral duty, categorized as: commitment, solidarity, responsibility, cooperation and respect towards students, colleagues and the university itself. A value matrix was generated and its subsequent visualization of the relationships found between the aspects indicated, representing them under a context of: Action - Non-action and Manifestation - Non-demonstration. This supported by the Libraries “ggplot2”.
